I just ordered my new FEC100. I have read in a few places here that the instruction book needs to be re-written, or at least clarified. Some of these posts are older posts, and I was wondering if someone can tell me if the book has been up-dated? I know nothing about these smokers, and I need all the help I can get. Thanks Guys...John

Welcome to the Pelletheads...

Don't know when that was written, I'll have to check with CS. The book we talk about rewriting a lot is in the other CS forums and the recipe book, not the FE, I don't think.

To learn a lot, just read through the FE forum for your ideas. It's the best place to start.
jrl,
dont know about the book but i have been using the start up technique that was given to me on this forum that helped my style of cooking a lot.
instead of the book's 10 min time after turning on and then off and back on. i use 3 mins with it set on smoke and then turn it off and back on. this has helped me a lot as i like to start low and slow on temps

Blonde moments.......and yes, I am a blonde.....

Today was the day that I have been waiting and waiting on...not waiting for just the delivery, but I have been looking for a long time at smokers, and as you all know...well, for the most part anyway, I went ahead and ordered the fec 100 to start out on. I do have a question though, I am not generating heat with it.....I did the turn on, wait 10, and then turn off, back on.....etc...etc....and it is just not building heat......am I missing something?

Thanks sooooooooooo much!!

Rob
Congrats Rob. The pellethead revolution is invading Ohio!

We're just down the road in Columbus, let me know when you want to get together.

Call customer service this morning and they can help you trouble shoot.

That said, once you turn it on, make sure the pellets are feeding into the combustion pot. Turn it off, wait 10 minutes then turn it back on. If you're not getting fire, it is probably a bad ignitor/ignitor controller.
