My 4 yr old Food Saver (V3460) is acting up. Sometimes it won't seal the bottom of the bag; other times it won't vacuum. I keep the upper/lower channels and gaskets clean. Any thoughts as to why this is happening?
it's probably time to replace the gaskets. If i recall the manual properly, they suggest replacing every two years since the gaskets harden up and no longer seal.
my 4 yr old v2400 started having issues similar to yours and replacing both upper and lower gaskets makes it operate like new.
I was wondering about the same thing. The lower chamber gasket is a soft styrofoamish material which comes out easily. I wash that in mild detergent now and again and it still seems to be spongy.
The upper gasket is a hard rubber material. It doesn't want to come out easily so I never forced it out. Will it come free or do I need to replace that whole upper assembly?
Update: Went to the FoodSaver website, hunted down the gaskets. They show a upper gasket...the hard rubber one...but no lower gasket. Got on the phone and was told that only the lower foam rubber gasket is replaced...the upper one is permanent. Ordered up the gasket, two in fact as they're $3 each and the shipping was $6.
