Well folks, I've decided to give up using my pellet cookers in competition. I'm tired of all of the remarks from folks about it being too easy and that anyone can cook on pellets. Frankly, I'm tired of people saying that it's cheating, even if they are right.
Cooking with wood presents it own set of challenges. You have to stay up all night with your pit. You have to learn fire management skills. The food that comes off of your pit always different. You have to find, cut, and cure wood. This is going to be an exciting year!
Good luck to all of you pellet heads this year. I'm keeping my home cooker because it's just too darn easy, but everything else is going. At least this year, if I manage to win one, I'll know I did it honestly.
