Grates Pitting

I have 2 SMo25s that are approximately 5 years old and i use them a lot as they are AWESOME!!. I was cleaning them the other day and noticed the racks are starting to pit - is that normal? Anyone else had that happen?

Yep,seems normal to most grates.

Yes I Have the nickel and the stainless steel ones. The stainless steel ones last longer. Both will pit if you do a lot of cured meats bacon ham in such. Or anything that is salty.
