Nah! Not that kind of wear . . . jeans and a T . . . what else?

What I do want to ask is whether or not anyone else is experiencing discoloration of their CS grates? I have noticed a copper colored discoloration on some of the bars that seems to be increasing. I am not sure if it's some kind or reaction with the rubs/smoke or if maybe I'm using the Scotch Brite a little too enthusiastically and am wearing an electrocoat off of the grate itself? I thought they were stainless steal, but might they be chromed and I'm a just to vigorous in my clean up? I do spray them with Pam before use, but still found that just throwing them in the dishwasher left a bitter residue on them so started using a little pre-wash scrub. Anybody else have this problem?

Also, saw neoprene gloves for about $35 or $40 bucks at Goodecompany.com . . . and found PVC gloves at Lowes for around $8. Is there a significant difference? I think that the neoprene might be more insulating and that could come in handy (Oh no! Puns again! Roll Eyes ) Anybody know?

Thanks.

Hey, Cog....My grates do a little of the same and I just use Greased Lightning and hot water to clean.....It hasn't seemed to change anything and mine have a bunch of cooks behind them......I have used those neoprene gloves from Lowe's and they work great for me.....The Goode Co. probably has the longer gauntlet/up the elbow cuffs....I used them and regular fire department gloves when I still had to move logs and hot grates around, but the short ones from Lowe's seem great for my CS....I have even cut the cuffs off some to facilitate easier off and on. Quit scrubbing those grills so hard...

Actually the grills are chrome plated and you can scrub the chrome off of them if you work at it. I always recommend that you spray them with Pam before cooking and then as soon as you get done cooking throw them in some water. Then when you get around to cleaning them the stuff will come right off without having to use a brillo pad.
Stuart,

It was a thought (perhaps not too realistic, but that's why I buy from you and am not making them myself!) Thanks for the comeback.

I am again amazed by the response of the Cookshack organization to the concerns and needs of its customers. I realize that the scale is different, but I doubt I'd have gotten a similar direct response from anyone at all to a question put to say Ford, GM, or any other large manufacturer. Y'all are marvelous to work with! Big Grin
