I own a Traeger grill as well as a weber charcoal grill. I am at the point where I need to get a bigger Traeger, but really only use it to smoke foods. So i thought I would look into a smoker instead and came across this forum.

What is the differences in the different models - does anyone know of a website to spell this out? while looking at cookshack's website it was kind of hard to tell, other than the FE. And I dont want anything that big or expensive. I would be using this for various meats: briskets, ribs, cheeses, etc. Probably never more than 3 or 4 pork butts at a time, maybe 10 racks of baby backs or st louis style ribs at a time at the most.

Also, has anyone gone the trade in route with sales? how much off was that pricing? I understand that condition/age makes a difference in pricing, just looking for a ballpark.

Hi Bigkevj,
Welcome to the Forum. Here is a link the website that lists the Cookshack smokers designed for the use you describe:
http://store.cookshack.com/c-64-cookshack.aspx
To find them without the link, make sure you are the residential tab (as opposed to the Commercial or Competition tabs) at the top of the page, then click "Products", then click "Smokers" and then click "Cookshack".
While people on this forum will be quick to give you advice, I would start out looking at this one:

Have fun looking and come back to the Forum if you have more questions.
Three basic lines

Residential, Competition, Commercial.

Residential and Commercial use heat cools to burn the wood and regulate the temp

Competition use 100% wood pellets to allow them to be used in competitions.

Once you decide on which line, say residential, the above post get's you details.

The look for model names in this "why buy" forum and see what owners have to say
