First I apologize for posting this message on this forum and Ray's forum, but I have a problem.

I fired up my FEC100 for the 3rd time to make a 14lb brisket. Put the brisket in around 12:30 last night (morning I guesss), and everything was humming along at 225 until about an hour ago. Now , know matter what setting I put the dial on, it is running really hot. Over 300 for the 1st few settings. The brisket is at 180 degrees so I will throw it in the house oven, but what is wrong with my new FEC100? Could I have a bad thermostat? ANy help would be appreciated since I have alot more food to cook today and 20 people coming over.

Yeah, you probably won't get a lot of help in that forum, lot of anti-pelletheads.

If you're putting it on the smoke/180 setting and you're getting 300 (is it spiking at 300 and then dropping or staying above 300) you have a problem.

I'd say call FE he's great with the problem solving, but I don't know where he is this early. His phone # is in the forum somewhere.
Hi Craig.

We are having a problem with ours too. Talked to Ed (Eddy) twice this weekend and he wants us to call Tony on Monday. We can control ours, sort of, but it is running way high and not keeping in sync with the two thermometers we are using to gauge the temp. by over 50 degrees, 100* or more at times. Maybe something in the control board is what I think I heard. We can back ours down to the 180 setting and get ranges of 250* to 318*+. I am not too worried, I know they will make it right.

Sorry to hear you are in the same boat. I have had terrible rib production with mine and I believe this is the reason. My butts come out beautifully if I put them on smoke a couple of hours and then keep them on the 180 setting. Over that, the unit goes wild and makes shoe leather. Since I read to cook ribs at the 275 setting I was getting diasterous results.

I still love my FEC and know that it will be corrected. I see what it can do with the butts. I still have faith.

Kate
