HHT LHT

Press and hold UP+DOWN for 5 seconds, display says “LHt”. This is the “Low Heat Time”. This is the ON time when the temperature is above set point. Release UP+DOWN to edit the value.

Press and hold UP+DOWN for 5 seconds, display says “LHt”. CONTINUE HOLDING UP+DOWN FOR ANOTHER 5 SECONDS, display says “HHt”. This is the “High Heat Time. This is the ON time when the temperature is below set point. Release the UP+DOWN to edit the value.

HHT is basically how long the auger runs per 15 seconds, when the temp is below the set point.

LHT is how long the auger runs per 15 seconds when the temp is above the set point.

I didn't ask the question, but I'm happy for both explanations.

I don't need to know how many times the auger runs. I just want to set the temperature. How should I set the temperature to run at 180 or 240 or 270 or 350?

You can just dial in the temp on the digital readout... HHT and LHT at factory settings will take care of most situations/temps. Adjusting the HHT and LHT settings will help reduce temp swings and help "fine tune" for more stable temps. i.e. Less temp spikes

To set the temp, just turn it on and use the up/down arrows for your desired temp. As has been said, the others are for fine tuning. I have my LHT set at 10 and leave it there. The lower the HHT is, the less temp swings you'll get so for low temps I run it down to 20 or 30. If you are grilling, setting the HHT higher will get it up to the desired temp faster.
