IQ3 for FEC 's

Well yall finally convinced me. 2006 will be the year I retire my stick burner.

Will the older units need to be taken to Ponca City, OK, or is it something the user can retrofit?

Waiting to hear the "official" word on the details about retrofitting.

I suppose besides retro fitting the other big question is how many $$$$?

Just got off the phone, I got a best guess from John at the Factory of $399 for the upgrade NOT including the probe. I also ordered a new IQ FEC-100 I'm looking forward to seeing how the new ramp feed cooks compared to my old straight auger.

Konrad,did John say if it could be retrofitted in the field?

No he did not. Although I think the news letter was a little optomistic as it sounds like April not late March before the IQ FEC 100's will ship from the factory. I'm happy to wait as the busy season is a couple months away.

The team has one on the way,with a comp 7/8 April.

We'll just use our older models for that one,anyway.

Another question I have is just how whether resistant is the IQ3? I won't be subjecting it to rain or direct h2o, but at a comp it could get a bit damp.

There are lots of questions about the new controller, I TOLD them not to announce it until it was shipping. But do they listen to me...NOOOO

CS is still getting the details worked out (finalizing price, retrofitting, etc) and it's a specific question, just call or ask CS direct (ask FE or Stuart) and see what they say. That's the surest way to an answer. They're not in the forum as often. And you can let us know what they say.

I don't know about you, I'm more worried about my pellets swelling from rain than the controller. I put the cover on any time there is rain in the air.

I don't have mine yet, but the other CS controllers I have are a "sealed" front so weather won't be a problem.

The IQ2 on my CS150 was not affected by Seattle weather.

My 160 lives at the beach in a salt shower every night in south Fl.

No problems at all.

Is this the new controller I heard about that will hold a temp +-2 degrees of what you set it at?
Let me know when they are available and at what cost.

just an update: Terri at CS thought the IQ3 fec100s would not start shipping until next month (so May?) and there would be an upgrade kit available for older units. I think she said the price on the new unit would be around $3250? but I can't read my notes. please correct me if I'm wrong.

Cookshack is as usual taking good care of me and I don't have any complaints. The latest I have from the factory and talking to John at a food service show today is next month (June) for the IQ3 FEC-100. There is a long list waiting for the upgrade.
