It seems that when I use the meat probe on the SMO25 it will not read until it reaches at least 32 degrees. If I stick in anything that has been in the freezer and it's not completely thawed the probe reading will be blank until it hits 32.

Is that normal?

Yes, it's normal.

I also wouldn't try to stick it in something frozen, you could damage the probe.

You really don't need the temp at the beginning, so I wouldn't worry about it. It's only if it stops reading that you might need to check it.
Thanks Smokin! I usually thaw everything completely and it reads 37 degrees out of the fridge. It's just a couple times I rushed it and the meat had a hint of not being 100% thawed. Within 15 minutes it hit 32 and everything was fine.

I purchased this unit in April and use it 3 out of 4 weekends a month. I'm already thinking how can I justify an AmeriQue.
