Attention Cookshack Senior Design Engineering Staff and Liability Lawyers.....

I've just gashed myself a second time on the (razor) sharp edge of my Smokette 008's top, (the lip above the door).

You may want to think about smoothing it a bit or rounding it over before someone looses a limb.

I would settle out of court for a stand or something but I've already got one :-)

(Sorry, I couldn't resist using the photo again)

No matter how well a shear is set up and even with sharp blades there will be a burr from shearing. If the stainless is soft enough (probably 304) take a sharp file to it. If that doesn't work use a 4" sander.

Donna, there are all kinds of ways to de-burr. Hand tools from $10-$15 to a machine for about $500. However you do it, it will only add one or two minutes to time. Get your shop foreman to look through the J&L and MSC industrial supply catalogs. I never let a sharp edge or corner out of my shop.
I remembered this post awhile back but thought nothing about it. Today after a few weeks of not using the Cookshack I pulled the cover off. The bees flew out. They had made a few nests on the smoker. I tried to hit one on the back and missed, caught my left index finger on the bottom edge of the smoker. WOW blood was flowing. It didnt hurt because the edge was so sharp. It took it to the bone. I have had the smoker for 3 years and never had this happen. Heads up out there. Kind of reminds me of the old TV cops show NYPD. After the briefing he would say Lets be safe out there was that the quote? Ha ha. Anyway I am cheap so have my finger wrap in cotton with duck tape no less. I will be fine.
