just received my new amerique last night and figured i would season it...followed the instructions and used about 2 ounces of cookshack wood for the burn...the problem was after about 20 minutes it cought fire...retried it placing the wood in the back of the box but now it only charred on the bottom of the wood (no ash). when i received it, their was no strap holding the element to the box and people on the forums say to bend the elements up to touch the box but the elements are just flopping around in their and not touching the bottom of the box...dont know what to do...also theirs no holes in my box like others are talking about. did they modify the newer ones to get rid of the holes?...hummmm

Where is the LIKE button for cookinfool's last post !! LOL

You will LOVE it. We have NEMO heading our way. Today I got a small (4.5) pound pork butt to cook off Saturday morning while that storm is a rollin' in. Gonna do it Carnitas style for tacos...
Got a lovely old custom rolled salamone from a roller who gave it to his son in law about 5 years ago. The roller passed away in December, for those who know Cuban cigars the roller is Don Rodolfo "Toboada" Campa. It can be raining or snowing, it'll be my fitting testamant to the great roller. RIP Don Adolfo
