Newby question

The Elite is wider (14" x 18" shelves) allowing you to cook whole slabs of ribs. It also has a larger element allowing you to smoke at up to 300* vs 250*. A must for chicken.

I have to ask. Are you my favorite hockey player?

Are you getting a good price for the SM020? The SM020 is the non-stainless/non-temp probe version of the SM025. That's what I have, couldn't be happier with it.

Pags, I think you might be thinking of the 009, the SM020 has the same size shelves & heating element as the Elite.

SM020 would be a great purchase... Same size as the 025 without the temp probe. I've been using my 020 for several years and no problems.

Only difference is the stainless, and the temp probe. Honestly I almost always use a Maverick wireless probe so the temp probe isn't necessary for me...

Agree with Nordy. I have to 025 and hardly use the digital temp probe. Always use my wireless maverick.

I have a 020 smokette and have tried very hard to wear it out. Since I've bought a FEC the smokeete has lake house duty's.

Did a 14lb packer brisket yesterday and 3 racks of loin back ribs today on it. I have been more then satisfied with the 020, in fact, on the 4th of July after sharing 6 racks of ribs with the neighbors, I was told by many that the were the BEST they had ever ate.

Yeah, you'll need to buy a separate probe, but most folks do that anyway.

If there is a good enough difference in price I'd say go with the 020 and never look back. With the savings you can get all the extra toys like thermopen, frog mats, and meats to smoke/eat.

I had the same delima last year when looking at an 040 or 045 and went with the 040 and am very happy.

Ok, so I picked up my "BRAND NEW"...SM20....bought from a guy who got it as a gift, and never taken out of the box. Best thing was the price, $250.00
