Store my 025 inside garage when not in use. Should I leave the door open a crack or latch it tight.

I always latch it tight.
I leave my cracked, why I do not know.Just me I guess.
Whichever you do, make sure the smoker is NOT plugged in. If it is and the power goes off, it will start cooking when the power comes back on.

I am sure Tom will chime in that he keeps his closed but also keeps a pan of kitty litter in it so it keeps the moisture down.
The folks at Cookshack say closed. There's a cautionary decal on my Amerique that reads, keep latched at all times.
Now I know why I leave the door cracked.Back in 2007 when I purchased my Model 008 Smokette. For some reason I read the operators Manuel On page 11 was instructions what to do after each load,item #9 says Leave door slightly ajar when oven is not in use.And yes unit is supposed to be turned off and unplugged. I am sure it is different for different models.
Yep,the charcoal based kitty litter does a good job in high humidity areas.I put a half pan or two on a couple shelves.

If you have/use a cookshack cover the only way the cover will fit is with the door latched closed. So I keep mine closed and covered up when not in use. I have seen where some people actually put a stopper in the bottom and top vents to keep bees/wasps/other insects from building nests inside. Just don't forget to remove the stopper before smoking a pork butt or packer brisket.

Mine is never out of service that long. I just clean it up, unplug it, close the door and put the cover over it until the next weekend.
I leave mine closed, I don't want mice and rats
making nest in there.
