Plugged in my smokette with the dial set at 0. After some time I reached in to load the wood box and got burned. It was already very hot. Anyone have this happen? Is the heating element supposed to get hot if the oven is on 0?

they say that it ain't supposed to go on if plugged in and set at 0. but mine has always gotten hot, even with the stat turned down. been doin it for 5 years. you can talk to customer service though...
Yep,I agree with woodburner.
There were some postings about this around 2 years ago. I developed the trouble after several months of ownership, called CS, they sent me a new thermostat, installed, fine since.
