Ordered my Smokette elite on 12/16 and the Cabela's website still sais the same thing it said the ‎day I ordered it. "backordered". Fortunately my credit card hasn't even been charged. Although I ‎wish it had so at least there would be some progress. I am still really excited and am hoping one ‎of you can provide some insight to the delay or your experience. Cabela'a customer service ‎seems to be looking at the same page that I am as they can't tell me anything I don't already ‎know. ‎

p.s. got a rib rack from a relative for Christmas. Sweet!‎

I Ordered my Amerique though Cabelas as well, I did Placea Call to Cookshack and they where able to tell me when it would ship. It's my understanding that they are made to order, I could be wrong but thats what I remember. I would guess that your order is about to ship....I know you wanted it yesterday, but make no mistake ...........you bought the right brand!
So I called Cabela's again, and this time was told that the truck they expected yesterday was delayed due to weather. They told me to check back tomorrow. I am confused. So are they waiting for it to be shipped to Cabela's from Cookshack so that they can ship it to me??? It seems to me that it would just come straight from cookshack to me. I think I was just given a load of BS from Cabela's.
Just because you are buying from Cabela's don't get the idea that CS won't help, if they can. I would call their(CS) customer service, explain your situation and hey you might be surprised at what they can tell you about when your shipment to Cabelas is scheduled to go out.

Ya know, you are family now, or soon will be?
I ordered a Smokette several years ago from Cabella’s and last year I ordered an AmeriQue from Cabella’s. Both were drop shipped from Cookshack, as with all large items ordered from Cabella’s they are first at the mercy of the manufacturer and secondly at the mercy of the shipping company. I am surprised Cabella’s hasn’t done a better job keeping you informed. They kept me well informed on both of my smokers’ status up to the point the shipper had it. Once the shipper had them I would have been in the dark without the tracking number. Hope you get your smoker soon
I received a call from Stewart from Cookshack, and he said they are waiting for "controllers" for the units and they expect them to be delivered on the 14th. My unit should ship around the 15th or 16th. So I am guessing this would have affected me no matter where I would have ordered the unit from. Oh well, still patiently waiting and thanks again for the suggestion to call cookshack.
Heck, you found out what a bunch of us already knew. Nice folks in Ponca City, Ok, USA. They speak English, don't care if you bought their product from Cabela's, Charcoal Store, garage sale, second hand store, etc. You are family and will be treated the same as all their family... and they do care about all of us.

NO better customer service that I've ever seen. How many company Presidents do you think would call a fella who bought his product from someone other then them direct...guess Stuart doesn't have a staff??? Just good folks with a good product,ya know.
Hey Padre Fan,
I ordered my SM025 from Cabela's the day after you did, on the 17th of December & I am still waiting as well. If I remember correctly, my order showed something like an estimated delivery date of Jan 3rd.
Well, I too called CS to see what was going on there & was told by Karen there that they don't handle any order questions or provide any information about orders placed through Cabelas. She said to call Cabelas to get an update. OK, so I did, and they told me their backorder date shows 1/14 as well. That's the date that Cabelas expects it to ship to their warehouse, and from there it will take another week or so. The Cabelas rep said I will probably get it around 1/21 or 1/24.
At least you got a little more information out of CS like the controllers being the cause of the backorder. Hopefully these controllers don't have the faults like some of the other readers have been experiencing as of late. If we have to wait over a month for our CS's & it comes broke out of the box, there's gonna be some unhappy customers.
So, I too, am patiently waiting like you. I was hoping to have the CS here & ready to go for the Bears game in two weeks, but it looks like it still won't be here. You can't beat the price at Cabelas but we have to put up with "reading" about good Q instead of making it ourselves.
I suspect the controller delay resulted from Cookshack not using the ones they had in inventory and replacing them with more reliable controllers from their supplier. Not neat waiting but probably worth it.

Cookshack isn't any happier than their customers with the delay. While we don't get to enjoy the smokers, this is Cookshack's livelihood and passion.
Buck Hunter- I decided to email cookshack and that is how I got the return phone call from Stewart. He also said he contacted Cabela's and asked them to provide us with better information. I just checked Cabela's website again and the only change is what used to say 0-1 week shipping now sais 2-3 weeks again. I am happy with the return phone call from Stewart. I am happy to be getting a cookshack. I am happy with the price I paid. I am a little disapointed in the waiting. I guess my only consolation is that I will be receiving a product that the company is doing everything it can to ensure that it is made and functioning properly. I just need to stop looking at all the great pictures of everyone's BBQ. Cause I am jonesing for my own BBQ.
Being a slow learner, it took me way too many years to decide that service had a higher priority than price. That's why I ordered directly from Cookshack.
I have had good transactions with Cabela's so I don't want to be overly critical of them. They should be appreciated for handling Cookshack smokers. Nonetheless, Cookshack's service is outstanding.
Wow! I didn't know the predident of Cookshack called me.
Update: My unit has shipped. No tracking number from Cabela's via the website. I also called. The best they could tell me was it shipped yesterday. I am pretty excited. I think I will be smoking my first PB next weekend.

Question...I think this unit is coming directly from the manufactuer, anybody know what company they generally use to ship with? Fed Ex, UPS, etc... thanks. Jon
Ok so it's Ups or Fed Ex. I am good with both. The Cabela's rep kept saying 'frieght' and I had visions of an 18 wheeler pulling into my culdesac to deliver my smoker. Big Grin

The torture is almost unbearable. Sunday will be exactly one month since I pulled the trigger on my purchase. In that time, I have gotten familiar with the seasoning techniques, gfi issues, what to make my first smoke, what to clean, where to store it, where to buy meat, how to prepare the meat for smoking. I think I have already invested over 20 hours of reading, thanks to the forum. The '101's have been extremely informative. I can't believe all of this info is so interesting. We really are fortunate.

I am hoping to take good pictures/notes through all of my experiences. Maybe I will post one or two. If I can figure that part out. Wait, I bet I could read about it right now...later!

Hey Padre Fan,

I found out my smoker shipped last Thursday the 13th. I don't have any tracking information on mine either, so I opened a chat window with the folks at Cabelas. I asked them where it was shipping from & they said West Virginia via UPS. I live in Illinois, so, Cabelas or Cook Shack must have a warehouse in WV. If it's shipping UPS Ground, using their website shipping information it shows it should arrive tomorrow (hopefully).
Padre Fan,

I didn't give any info to Cookshack. I talked to Cabelas via their chat window utility on their website & I gave them the order number. From there they were able to see that it had shipped & when I asked them where it shipped from, they said West Virginia. They told me the town too, but I can't remember what that town was off the top of my head.
I hope you get some good information too.
Padre Fan,

I got my freight delivery call yesterday from a local carrier. I think it was shipped UPS from WV & then it'll be delivered by a local carrier. It seems like a crazy delivery route - from Oklahoma, to West Virginia, to Illinois, but what the heck. Especially since I know that Cabelas has a warehouse right across the Illinois Wisconsin border, but what the heck. Mine will be here this morning.
Glad yours is coming Thursday... Just in time for the weekend & some great football games.
Hey Padre Fan,
I got my CS today & it's in the seasoning process as we speak. I'm gonna try the spicy maple almonds & pecans tonight (since they only take a few hours to enjoy) and I bought a slab of ribs to get ready tonight to smoke tomorrow.
I started seeing smoke around 120 degrees & that was a pretty cool sight.... Not as cool as when I woke up the next day after LASIK, but still pretty amazing. My deck smells real nice too. It gives the house a campfire smell without having to tend to a huge fire. I can't wait for it to cool off & throw some food in there.
Needless to say, you'll be happier than you imagined when you open it... I sure was.

I hope yours fires up as well as mine has so far.
Cal - Thanks for rubbin' that in for me. That's what Padre Fan gets for living near Sunny San Diego. I've been there 5 or 6 times for work & vacation & every time I go there, I have a hard time leaving.
Padre Fan, next time I'm out there, I'll look ya up & we'll go have some Microbrews. I used to love that Rhino Chasers Peach Honey Wheat out there but I haven't seen it there since the late '90s (they must have went out of business).
Happy Smokin'
