I believe it will hold around 20#. It burns about a pound a hour at 275 so a full hopper gives you around 20 hours of burn time. The weather doesn't affect it like other cookers you may have used.

I made a scoop out of a half gallon milk container that holds about a pound of pellets full. That way I know one scoop will roughly give me an hour of burn time.

Don't pour the pellets directly in the hopper because the sawdust in the bag can cause the auger to jam. Some people drop the bags (unopened) on the ground before use to break any of the longer pellets up (to prevent jams).

The Florida folks usually run the hopper and auger "dry" after use because the high humidity can cause problems if the pellets sit there. We don't have that problem in Ohio but you might in NC.

There are different flavor pellets but FE uses hickory and many people feel that there is little if any taste difference with different pellets.
