I need to install a new ignitor in my PG1000. How do I remove the fire pot? My fire pot has two bolts/nuts on top and several Phillip head screws in the front.
The front screws will be hard to remove due to the steel wall that divides the cooking chamber. I can’t find a nut driver that will work on the two bolts on top. I have many socket and nut drivers but none seem to fit. If anyone knows that size let me know.

Eddie, Here is an instruction sheet.

I think that instruction sheet doesn’t apply to the PG1000. I still can’t figure out how to take off the fire pot for the install I can’t reach the screws in front and the two little bolts on top are some off the wall size because I got nothing here that will fit it
I did find a video online doing a FEC igniter install but that fire pot had two screws in front and was easy to get to.

Looking at your photo, reading the instructions and looking at the PG 1000 manual, it looks pretty straight forward. If the 5/16th nut driver does. not work, try clamping vise grips on the flats of the nut; and/or try a nut driver a size larger/smaller, maybe even a metric. It can be very hard to remove fasteners that have been subjected to high heat over a long period of time. You might need some penetrating oil or similar item and let it do what it does. Call CS and ask to speak with their tech.
The 5/16 nut driver is to big. I’ll give the clamping vise a shot. I did call CS a few days ago and spoke with a tech. He said it should be two Phillip screws but that’s not correct on this model
Did you try a smaller size?
yes I tried smaller with no luck I found this on a search
For anyone who has to do it:
1-Remove the 10 screws on the end of the pellet storage
2-Follow the two white wires. Remove the fan on the bottom to gain access through the round hole on the bottom towards where the fire chamber is
3-With a flashlight and some positioning, you can see where the ignitor is secured by two screws
4-Carefully remove the philips head screws
5-Remove the old igniter. Take the two screws that you removed and thread them into the holes on the end of the new igniter.
6-Hold the screws in place with two pieces of cardboard
7-Replace the assembly in the firepot and tighten the screws in place
8-Replace fan screws, push ends of igniter wires into plug and plug into female plug end.
9-Secure slack and replace screws on end assembly and you are good to go!
Best of luck to you! Pretty good guidance!!
