I just got a new sm20. The woodbox now is above the floor of the cooker. My question is there are several references that say, "be sure you slide the woodbox all the way in" or "woodbox must touch the rear of the cooker". My firebox on slides until it is flush with the front of the brackets that it slides in on. There is a slot in the front and the back, the rear is a larger slot (allows the woodbox to slide over the bracket) but the front slot is too narrow to allow the box to slide all the way through. I know this is a new design .... any ideas? Is this right or should the front slot be bigger? I'll call CS on Monday, but in the mean time ???

My concern was for not. It worked great just the way it is. Put a chunk of wood in and set for 200. Came up to temp in very little time, then let it go at 200 for about 6 hours, consumed the wood and held temp great. Then put in a 6.2 pound pork butt. Used 4 oz. of hickory, set at 250. Smoker came up to temp quickly and maintained temp very well. Meat reached 195 in 8 hours. Took it out, wraped in foil and towel and put in a cooler to rest until morning. Took it out this morning, still hot, pulled off the fat cap and bone and the meat pulled apart perfectly, was super tender and moist. Awesome result for the first time.
Anyone having problems with their Smokette Essential? I realize it takes awhile for it to heat up, but I went to do a 5k the other day and put a butt in to reheat and it was at 95" when I left and when I came home 3 hours later ..it was still on 95". the red light was on at the bottom right? Not sure if I have a problem or not.
