Racks falling when traveling

Take the top back pegs out and put a 7/16 nut on them and tighten back down. The nut will hold the racks firmly against the wall.

I'll try that. Thanks, I am worried about my newest one. The 05 model has a shield over the temp sensor, but the 07 doesn't. I don't want to damage it.

I bought my 07 used from StuQ and that is what has been done to them. The front ones don't have any on them, just the back ones. I'm guessing they are a 7/16 nut.

I wondered about no shield over the temp sensor, just figured he must have tore it off.

The 05 model has one. The 07 doesn't, and I bought it new from Cookshack. Makes me wonder if they forgot it or phased it out in 07?

Alright, It's not 7/16. It's a 10/32 button head screw, screwed into a post. Found that out trying to run a 7/16-14 die over it. Looks like the best thing to do is: Heat the stud (cause it's stainless and breaks easy). Remove the screw and replace with a 10/32 bolt and a number 10 fender washer about 1 inch in dia. I figured this out this afternoon. This should make removing the rack brackets easy for cleaning. What do y'all think?

I'll take a picture tomorrow, the rivot screw was taken out and a nut put on the screw and refasten. This pinched the rack between the wall, the nut held by the rivet head. No I don't ever remove the rack to clean.

I see. You screw the bolt out then use the nut as a spacer. I thought you were screwing it onto the bolt head. My Bad!! Thanks for the info, it should be easy to do this now. Good luck on the BBQ trail. :-)

Thanks Randy, we actually did fairly well. We bombed in chicken and pork ( changed recipe ) big mistake!!!! But we won Ribs and Anything Butt. Both were done in that 05 model I just bought. Somebody called it a "Rib Machine". I almost agree. We are trying to go to Knoxville this year and hope to see y'all there.

Update....I had a thermocouple die Saturday doing a brisket test run. Ordered new ones that day and Cookshack called me Monday morning letting me know they got the order and it will be here Tuesday. I leave for Cincinnati Tuesday afternoon. !!!!! "That's Customer Service" !!!!!
