I was just outside setting up my smokette to do my first brisket. I was getting everything ready so at 3am in the morning I could just get up and put it in the unit and turn it on. Usually with ribs and butts, I put my foil in and load the wood box and then put in the meat and turn it on and close the door. This time since I was not going to put the meat in until early in the morning, I plugged the unit in with the dial set to off, and then as I was putting the foil in the bottom, I burned my hand on the burner. I thought OFF on the dial was OFF, but it appears my unit is on even with the unit off. I have had my unit about a year and have not noticed this before. So, I will leave it unplugged until I put my meat in. Is it supposed to have a positve off or not? Do I need to call and talk to customer service?
