I was just outside setting up my smokette to do my first brisket. I was getting everything ready so at 3am in the morning I could just get up and put it in the unit and turn it on. Usually with ribs and butts, I put my foil in and load the wood box and then put in the meat and turn it on and close the door. This time since I was not going to put the meat in until early in the morning, I plugged the unit in with the dial set to off, and then as I was putting the foil in the bottom, I burned my hand on the burner. Eeker I thought OFF on the dial was OFF, but it appears my unit is on even with the unit off. I have had my unit about a year and have not noticed this before. So, I will leave it unplugged until I put my meat in. Is it supposed to have a positve off or not? Do I need to call and talk to customer service? Confused

Ok, I have got to brag on customer service from Cookshack. I followed the advice given here and called yesterday. I was put through immediately to Stuart, who told me that he would fix the problem right away. He said that customer satisfaction was very important to him and he really meant it! I had a very nice chat with him about BBQ in general. I was having a really bad day at work, and my conversation with him REALLY made my day. Everyone at Cookshack is TOP NOTCH in my book. Thanks to all who answered my post and thanks to everyone at Cookshack for such a great product and service after the sale, and a very special thanks to Stuart for brightening my day!
