Am using the meat probe. After inserting the meat probe and turning on the smoker the probe temperature says HI. What does that mean? I was expecting to see a number.
I have the cs020, that doesn't have the probe, but I think I remember one of our members say,"make sure the probe end that goes into the display box doesn't catch on the rubber flap or it won't go in all the way and it will read HI".
I did my first smoke today in my new 45 and I had the same thing happen with the probe. I plugged it in and it read "HI". I took another look at the plug and noticed it had in fact gotten caught on the rubber protective cap and hadn't seated all the way. Pushed the plug all the way in and "HI" went away and it worked perfectly.
Greetings fellow smokers! I, too, tried the probe for the first time and it only read HI. I felt it "click" in, but after reading the comments above I went out and give it a HARDER push. It didn't click any further, but the display showed the temperature.
Welcome to the forum! As you have seen, there is a ton of useful info in the forum, thanks to our fellow family members.
Sometimes the best info, seems to get thread jacked...so make sure you do plenty of reading and if you run into a question, thought, etc.,there are plenty of members that are willing to help out, as you will soon realize, so please don't be shy.
When some of the more experienced members run into a snag, we look toward Smokin' for all the answers. Sometimes the answer is as simple as go smoke something and keep good notes, but it doesn't hurt to ask!
