I just purchased a smo45. I wondering if anyone knows why I set the temperature for 225 the rose to 274 degrees without any wood. I tried it again later and I set it for 140 and the temperature is reading 235 degrees and rising. This is new unit what could be the the problem anyone has a answer.

It has a program to make the smoker run on high for 20 minutes to get the wood started smoking.

Congrats on the new smoker and welcome to the forum.

I will see what happens. I hope that it will work. I will try it next time and see if the temperature is maintained. Thank you for your help

I have a 45 and you won't have a problem with it. It runs beautifully. You will like the way it smokes.

I am sure I will. I just thought when inset the temperature for whatever it should cycle on and off at that temperature just like an oven.
