Not sure if this is normal but I just started seasoning my smokette for the first time and about 30 minutes into it I was out on my porch taking the dogs out and like a firework flames shot out the top and bottom of the smoker holes. It was immediately extinguished and continued to smoke. I set it up by the book so I can't imagine I did anything wrong. I didn't turn it off as it is a safe distance from the house and I wanted to find out if this is normal. Thanks! The new guy... Pat

I wouldn't call it "normal" but it has happened to people on the forum as well as myself.

It's rare, but it seems to happen more when the moisture content is low(as yours was when you were seasoning it).

No need to be worried. I have yet to see a case where this has caused any problem with the smoker or the food. The way these things are made you'd have to have gas fumes in there to have a chance to do anything.
Well, there certainly are posts about the big "bang" theory, those concern a sound, but you said you saw flames out the top and bottom. That's amazing, how much wood did you have in it? A smokette is pretty small and there normally isn't enough air for you to get a full ignite of any wood. It smolders, but doesn't really burn/flames.

I don't think anything is wrong, just sounds a little different
