Is it normal for a fair amount of smoke to seep out of the door when smoking? Just fired up my Smokette to season it and noticed a good amount of smoke seeping from the door. Is this normal?

It's not a problem. I think most of us have had that 'problem' when our Smokette was new. After a few cooks in the shack it will seal itself up pretty well. Mine no longer seeps out the door and I've only used it about 8 times.

I have used mine at least 20 times and smoke still seeps out the door pretty good.
Just figure it helps get rid of a little moisture and it is drawing better.
No effect at all on the cooking.

my 55 does it and has for years with no problem with the product
My smokette quit smokin out the door after a couple years.
