Ok, so if this smokette is so lean on energy and the fact that it is only a 500 watt heating element, I wonder if it will work on a power inverter. I have a 400 - 800 watt and I think I will try it later in the day to see results. Any good engineer/power techies out there that can talk about this. I am curious about battery drain, maybe how often to restart the car to charge etc. Would be great to get this info.

I can see it now. Camping with the smoker and finishing the meat on the fire and wow, "U DA MAN" at the campground....

Ok, I tried the inverter. I only had a 400 watt 800 watt max. Now the smokette has a 500 watt heating element. It did run without the warning beep from a drain that is too large for the inverter.

I guess I would get a larger inverter and have to test the drain for amps and such. But I will try at home for a 12 hour cook to see if the battery can take it. I will try this out with car starts on the hour.

Feedback to follow. I am going to get a larger inverter though before I try it
