I was out on the Harley yesterday and stopped into the local rib shack. They used to have a stick burner behind the resturant. I inquired as to where it was and how were they smoking without it.
Seems the health dept told them that they could not use the smoker anymore because they had to transport the finished product under a oak tree in order to get in the back door. Apparently this is a violation of Florida health rules. They now smoke everything at another location and drive it to this one.
When I asked why they couldn't just cover the product with foil or whatever before walking under the tree I was told that that too was a no no. Hmmmm.
Now I know that just down the road a local church has ribs smoking for sale every weekend under the old oak tree, are the rules differnt for churhes as opposed to resturants or have they just not been caught yet?
BTW this is the same place that had the $9.00 wedding buffet I posted about a couple weeks ago. Cool

bill,
ya hit the nail right on the head!!!!
yep the rules are different here in sunny fla.
you can sale all kinds of ways if it is non-profit fund raising.
as far as the oak tree thing goes unless he was grandfathered in (as in he owned the place before the law changed) he gets to live with some really strange rules.
example-the southern yankee log cabin rig to meet florida law has to have the smoker enclosed in screening or it wont meet the regs.
greywater and potable water must be gotten at a commissary kitchen even though all rv parks are inspected you cant use theirs.
does any of this make sense?? not really.
but it darn sure gives ya some fun hoops to jump thru Razzer
jack
ps. and we haven't even started talking about fire extingushers yet lol
