Pork loin with the mahogany sauce on Saturday.

Nothing this weekend.

But how about tonight. I've got 4 flats going on at 11:00 along with 2 10lb butts.

Fixing them for a cub scout dinner friday night.

I am going to look for beef short ribs on saturday and then do them up on sunday maybe. I might end up doing brisket or pork ribs instead. Maybe chicken.

Daughter and family are coming down this Sat. Smoking some baby backs from Costco. Cookshack rib rub. And............some good Ca wine.

Yum.

Please suggest to us a good CA wine which pairs well with pork ribs ! I am thinking a well oaked Zinfandel.

Put a whole chicken in brine this morning and will go into the smoker this afternoon. Going to use the breasts for a chicken,corn,black bean soup and the rest for snacking.

2 butts today,for a meeting tuesday, Country ribs Saturday, & whole chickens on Sunday.----I love my cookshack 08 smoker!!!!!.

Yeah, think I'll try a Zin. If you have Trader Joe's around your area, they have a great Cab, Alexander-Fitch for $5.99. Hard to beat at that price. Sometimes one bottle doesn't last til dinner. Also fixin Portuguese beans, cole slaw.

Sunday Morning will be Smoked Country Ham with Red Eyed Gravey, Fresh oven Biskets with homemade Jam and Apple Crisp for desert.

Ain't nothing better..................

Thanks Jim. I will look for it next time I drive the 30 miles to the liquor store. Will just opt for my homemade wine this weekend.

GLH...maybe worthy of a whole new subject thread, BUT, I like Calif. Syrahs with pork. They have enough depth to 'fight back' A zin is always welcomed, no matter what the meal in my book. "Forgive me Father, for I have zinned"

I like them both with food, including Q. I would rather have a cold Corona or similar for just drinking before or after the meal. My off-dry blackberry aged on American oak is not bad with most Q dishes and spreads.

A well oaked Zin goes well with anything, IMO. Here in Healdsburg, the heart of CA's greatest wine country, Zin's are held in high regard. Used to be called the poor man's Cab.. but, today, they have a HUGE following.

BTW, I'm NOT part of the wine country chanber of commerce

Mad Dog - up north, that's biker anti-freeze. Slip it inside yer engineer boots alongside the engine, keeps it toasty. Just the thing to thaw you out after a long, cold ride. That is, if you can stand the gawd-awful taste!
