Pardon mu ignorance. but I have a 105 (made in 1995), how do I put the chips above the heating element. In tin foil? Bare. Will they fall throught to the heating element. Trying to cook briskets tomorrow, any help appreciated.

Yep, put them in a HD foil pouch and poke toothpick size holes all over, including the bottom. Go ahead and find you some 1"x1" or 2"x2" chunks to use next time, make sure they are dry/seasoned.
Thank you very much. Do you soak the chips prior to use? In addition to chips, I have hickory wood chunks. Would they be ok to use in place of chips?
Use wood chunks instead of wood chips. The dual heating elements will burn chips up pretty fast.
Remember, the wood is for flavor only, the elements generate the heat, so it's easy to oversmoke. Start with just a few, don't soak in water.
