i do some wood working and was wondering if the cherry and hard maple scraps that i save wouild be good for smoking just got my 09 and thought i would ask the wood has been kiln dried and quarter sawn
Other people have said that they use pieces such as those you mention. As long as it has no treatment on it there shouldn't be a reson why you could not use.
thanks for the info wasnt sure but i no there is no treatment on this wood just thought i would ask because i have a bunch of small chunks of maple and cherry
Yep, untreated wood works great as long as it is dry. You should weigh the amount of wood you use each time so you will know how much to use next time. You should take notes with the type wood, weight of wood, weather conditions, temp set, meat temp start, meat temp finish, spices used, preheat or not, etc., etc.
