Hello all. Thanks much for the first post I made about the dust/dirt inside. I've put er on the stand, cleaned it all up and am about to do my seasoning, but I have three questions (and pics! Smiler) before I start.

1. The smoker seems to sit WAY far back on the cart. The four holes all lined up inside the stand into the caster holes of the smoker, but still, it seems pretty far back on the stand. Correct?

2. The heat element is not even inside the smoke box frame. It's not touching the side, but it's clearly not even. Light attempts to bend it didn't do much and I obviously don't want to snap something off by using too much pressure. Problem or leave it alone?

3. I have lots of pieces left over from the stand assembly. I know from searching that there will be parts left over, but these seem to be a lot of extras. I thought the black plugs would go in the round holes that are next to the oval ones the smoker used to attach to the cart, but they just kept popping out. And the instructions don't mention their use. OK not to use them?

Thanks all!

Don't know about the extra parts but the position of the smoker on the cart looks good to me.

The smoke box on the support will fit the right way and the wrong way. Look at the ends of the box. The rectangular hole at the bottom of the ends are ( should be ) two different sizes. One a larger rectangle than the other end. The LARGE end goes on first and comes in contact with the back of the smoker box..
The heating element looks OK, mine isn't straight either. I have the same setup as you. The back of the 008 should be even with the back of the stand. Mine is. The holes are obviously wrongly placed unless there are other holes that will make it sit right. The drip tray under the smoker door hangs over the front of the stand a little on mine.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Cool
Everything seems fine. Nice little smoke coming out the vent hole. Dropped the temp probe down for a few minutes and it read 238 at that time (smoking at 250 for the seasoning).

All seems good! I am going to call customer service tomorrow to make sure the overhang on the back of the cart is how it's supposed to be.

Might be a new smoker and an older cart. Or maybe this is how it's supposed to be.
Steve0617,

The thumb screws in the "extra parts" are the screws for attaching the smoker to the cart. Did you do that?

I'm only asking because I didn't get any extra thumb screws but, maybe you did.

My 009 sits flush with the back of the cart, also my heating element is bent and it doesn't seem to affect anything.
