Thanks i2BBQ-

The storm is pounding away about 70 miles offshore. Winds around 70 mph- close to hurricane force! It is supposed to land near Venice around 2 PM today. We are under a tropical storm watch and tornado watch. I couldn't sleep because of the noise from the rain, thunder and wind.

I checked my anchors and they are holding so far. No Queing today.

If it keeps on track, my area should be OK. I live in the mouth of Tampa Bay on a small island. Our big worry is storm surges, but this is lessened by the storm passing just south of us. My UPS just went off and on again! Eeker

Thanks, Buddy.
Dang! Scary report, Bobby Que (like I need more scary stuff.) And Sunshack is in Ft. Meyers proper, right? TV says major flooding.
Hope you folks get out ok.

What's the connection to BBQ? you ask. Listen to this. In the late '70s I lived in Orlando when a hurricane came up the Atlantic Coast. A friend (middle aged) invited me and my wife over for a hurricane party (that's something we do around here, Smokin Okie) This guy was recovering from quadruple bypass surgery. Get the picture? He unlimbered his BBQ grill, and began slathering the ribs. He used a peanut- butter impregnated BBQ sauce to mop the ribs.
Well, he died shortly thereafter, and not from the hurricane.
Is peanut butter BBQ sauce common, or are the inventors all gone to their makers?

Hang in there Bobby Que.

The weather just said it may set over by you for several more hours before movin' on in.

As we know ,that means lots more rain. Frowner

We are picking up the back side here with plenty of standing water, only about 50mph winds, but tornado and flood warnings at the beach.

RNAT is down in Key Largo and he should have been pounded since last night.

The schools are cancelling all after class activities already.

Like i2 says ,I have taken the appropriate precautions.

I took the andouille and tasso out of the freezer, stopped in and picked up shrimp, oysters, and chicken and put Abita beer in the refigerator.

The wife and I have started prep for Gumbo,Jumbalaya ,Red Beans and Rice.

Just checked the generator and plenty gas in the big tank for the stove.

If it gets to bad RNAT and Bobby Que ,come on over and we Hurricane party. Big Grin
Thanks all.

The sun is starting to try and come out, and the rain and wind is decreasing.

No big problems here. Some stuff outside that turned over, and lots of rain but no local flooding near me. Big Grin Big Grin

My biggest problem was with my 2 Schnauzers- hard to walk them when the winds are gusting at >40 + mph.

No Que today- but getting a packer cut brisket tomorrow! Cool

I have not done a hurricane party in years. Could bop over to Melbourne and have one and then bring a few mullet home.

We sure have been lucky here in Tampa Bay! Wink

Hopefully this storm will fritter out before it hits the east side of the State.
