I have the Amerique, I was having a problem with it tripping the breaker(not GFI), spoke to Billy Vice and he sent me a new heating element as he thought that it was the problem. I installed the element and powered it up and everything appeared fine, display was good and the temp was rising after 4 minutes the temp had risen 5 degrees and then tripped the breaker again. There is no moisture in the unit after taking the back panel off. The wiring looks fine. Anyone else had this problem?

Try plugging directly into another circuit on different breaker to see if that particular breaker is failing.

I have the same unit and run it on a GFCI with an extension cord. I have never had a problem. I agree that I would try another circuit. Breakers do wear out and will tend to fail. If you need to use an extension cord to reach another circuit make sure it is a good heavy one. 12 gauge wire if possible, and no longer than you need.

I would guess, that for the first cook with a new element. It will need to be done on a non-GFI plug.

There is a little moisture in the element that will need to dry out, after the 1st smoke you should be good to go on the GFI.

Some GFI's once they trip have to be replaced and they can be very, very picky about what's plugged in.

I agree, test it elsewhere, non-GFI

Since you're not using a GFI breaker, keep in touch with Cookshack. They will make it right. I would plug it into another outlet on a different circuit to confirm you have a problem with the unit and not the outlet/circuit breaker.

Hi Folks
I think i found the problem with my Amerique. I tried it on another circuit as suggested by the members here and it worked fine. I opened up the main panel box and found that the breaker is indeed a GFI. nothing indicated this at the receptable, it was just indicated on the breaker itself.
