Thanks, congrats, and ya know it....so, it appears to me that one of the pics of the ribs smoking resembled some fresh rub put on them part of the way through the process, or are my eyes deceiving me?

congrats again.

So, I don't think I committed to confirming or denying the existence of any of my secrets. 20 years in Military Intelligence it's hard habit to break Wink

But that's not the one I included just for you guys Wink

He was kind enough to share this with GaryT and me at the CS class last Dec. Old news to me,oh well!
The ribs they gave us were really small and the smaller the ribs, the more the "accordian effect" (my term so quote me) takes over.

But don't go blabbing it all over the internet, just call it OUR secret. Someone from next year might actually look at this post.

Next time you do ribs. Lay them on the table as you prep. Pull them and push them and see how much play is in the meat. It's surprising. The play in these ribs was at least 2 to 3 inches. It DOES help.

Okay, so there I confirmed the secret.

Happy now.

I'm coming to Coach's for some of those flexible ribs. This is good information, something else to try.

LOL, I am pretty new at this but one of the first things I did was watch Smokin's Baby Back Rib video. In there when he put the ribs on the smoker he explained why he pushes them together.

I did stop in to Coach's last Thursday while on a trip from South Dakota to Texas and asked for Russ. The waiter said he hadn't seen you for a few days. Had the pulled pork sandwich with the coleslaw.

Well. Now that you mention it, I seem to remember that also.
I'm with Live4smoke, as a newby it was a must watch. If I remember, all the seasoned Pro's ( you know Who you are ) send us greenhorns to Smokin's 101s. Try it sometime you might learn something.

It is hard to remember all the great tips we get from this site. The nice thing is their all still here for the finding.

I'd like to thank everyone for posting their failures as well as their successful tips. I'm surely not a Pit Master but I'm a heck of a lot closer then I was a year ago.
