Brisket, Pulled Chicken and Pulled pork | Cookshack

Any idea what kind of wood i should use for this selection of meat, Buddy wants this made up and i wanna smoke them all together.

Alder has become my go to wood when I'm undecided. Seems to work well with everything.

It'll give you a use guide for most woods.

My suggestion would be Alder or Pecan.

I just started mixing alder into my hickory. I am really liking it. Might try all Alder soon.

Alder... That's easy for all you west coasters to say.

Since you're in the midwest, I'd say try either pecan or maple.

The base for Traeger Pellets is Alder (Traeger is based in Oregon).

It's funny, now that I think about why I am using a bag of Alder. I went to my local butcher and they were running a sale on Traeger pellets. I though what the heck, I am running low and forgot to send my order in for BBqDelight. I went to get a bag of Hickory and they didn't have any. So I grabbed Alder. Mixed my alder bag with the hickory and cherry I had it home. Worked great.

Oak young man. Oak. Preferably Live Oak for the picky types. Watch out for Black Jack. It can be scary.
