changing pellet flavors

I did it your way once. Now I stick with hickory. I like this the best.

I agree with Freddie, I used to switch pellets but the FE is so easy on smoke the hickory seems to do the best. I am just using hickory from now on.

Why bother I can not seem to tell one flavor to another . I put what ever and do not worry about it .I like oak , good heat and good flavor .

Here's what I do. I start the empty hopper with about a pound of flavorwood pellets, usually 100% and keep an eye on the hopper to make sure all these pellets go down the auger. Then I add oak to finish off (lowest amount of ash, consistent heat). If I want some extra smoke during the cook, foil packet some pellets and put it over the fire pot on the hood. Need to have a temp of 300+ for it to smoke good and steady. Otherwise it'll just kind a poot out when the pellet fire cycles (which is not a bad thing either). This is what I do for ribs & chicken cause the hopper's full of oak. Hope this helps.
