Smokin' taught, 4 hrs @ 275 for 3# trimmed spares. Can't remember him ever telling which spot he cooked them, but I'm sure with a little practice, a feller outta be able to figure out what works in his smoker.
Assuming 4 shelves; 1 is the top and 4 is the bottom...shelf 4 tends to cook a little faster, followed by 1. That's been my experience cooking 12 racks at a time. If only smoking a rack or two, it probably doesn't make mush difference.
Left is hotter than right & top right is hotter than bottom right (@/below outlet). Put larger racks to the left and rotate up&down if doing more than one shelf. Also if doing 3 racks it's best to use two shelves instead of cramming onto one.
