Cooking Thermometer/Timer

I used to swear by Taylor, now I swear at them! My first Taylor lasted about five years then crapped out. Bought another thinking I would get the same service - NOT!

But---The saving grace with the newer Taylors is that they come with either a 10-year or lifetime warranty. I have one in the shop now & for the price of a $4.80 Priority Mail label I'll have a new one soon.

All these digital are probably made in the same Chinese sweatshop for pennies. Even so, I'll probably stick with Taylor.

Wow Wheelz.. that's not good to hear. I've had mine for about the same amount of time and it works like a champ. Haven't even had to replace the batteries yet ( but it's not on thw whole cook.. just the beginning and toward the end. ) Maybe I shouldn't recommend Taylors any longer But that warranty sounds very good. Proly still the best bang for the buck.. even if you have to have two of 'em, swapping back and forth to the factory.

Kind of my feelings too, Bill. I have three Taylors now, just in case. The warranty definitely makes the difference. Just "make darn sure" you keep the paperwork. Taylor wants the originals!

Try a $10 candy thermometer...there is something to be said for a non-digital readout

I have one of those Therms here (Thermoworks) and I haven't been too impressed with it. My Redi-Chek from Maverick has been reliable and is the one I use the most.

I do have the Thermopens from Thermoworks and they are excellent.

I have been using the Thermoworks oven thermometers, similar to the Taylor, for about at least six months now and have been working fine for me. But I also use a Maverick ET73 for smoker temps and Thermapens for quick temps.
