Hi all, I'm new to the forum, but have been browsing for a while now. What a great way to learn about our passion. I read somewhere that corn cobs can be used to replace wood in a smoker. Has anyone ever tried this?
I asked the same question quite a whild back. Yes, people do use corn cobs. Do a search (up top - link just under "post poll") on corn cobs. There are several threads on the subject.
I have used corn cobs frequently for smoking bacon and hams. Not as dense as wood, so that has led me to use more or an amount then I use with wood. It imparts a nice sweet flavor to the meat. It is am old standby used here in Vermont for some great taste in Hams.
