I don't 'think' this subject has been beaten up here on the Forum, if so, sorry.

The question is in comparing any of the electric Cookshack 'residential' smokers (08/09, 50/55, Amerique) to the FEC-100s, etc. BESIDES being able to not use the electrics in competitions, what are the reasons someone might want a FEC for home use?

What does one do that the others don't? You, who own both, which do you use at home and why? What do you like about one unit over the other? I suppose that begs the question that if you 'could' use an electric in competition, would you?

Curious, mostly, but also want to know if I'm missing something with just my two 50/55's.

Go to the third forum down; Why buy a Cookshack/Which model to buy? There are 3 different discussions giving some views!! It seems the big difference is on the FEC you can enter the comps, and they get to 350*' so you can get crispy skin on your chicken and use it like an oven!! I love my AmeriQue!!
Pretty good answer by Tigerfan. Cool

Smokin' often reverses the question to,"what do you want your cooker to do"?

On top of all my other Cookshack products,I always am impressed by the FEC 500.

You can cook 500 lbs of meat,it has rotisseree shelves,it looks cool, and I could pull it with my big truck-

Woops,I don't have a big truck,I can't give away all the food I can cook on my little CS,I can't afford it,I'd have no place to store it. Roll Eyes

But,it still looks cool. Wink
Good questions you have there, and some folks think you can never have too many cookers. Big Grin

If you could get hooked up with someone in your area that has an FEC,a visit with them could answer even more questions.

Most are real pleased to show off their rigs.

If someone had a cater,or vend,an offer to wash dishes, and do some "grunt" work will almost always get you invited. Wink

You don't have a lot of cookoffs in your area,to visit, and it is hard to do much cookin' while the cooks are competing.

If you got more serious, you might call CS sales and see who in your area, has one.

A contact, and an offer to bring some cold drinks,or meat to cook, might get you together.

I have done a number with folks, and helped them decide both different ways.

Just a thought.
Thanks for the thoughts, Tom. I see a similar subject is being beaten around regarding 'taste' differences, so I won't belabor this one.

And not trying to take this off track, but you're right about a distinct lack of Q comp's out here! Had one a year ago at the Autry museum and I couldn't get a quorum to attend!

Oh, pass the soy bean milk shake, please. Roll Eyes
