Electricity to my 55 woes!!

I do not have an electric outlet where I would like to use my smoker in my backyard.
Can I use a 25 or 50 ft.10 or 12-gauge extension cord (1875 watts) to the unit? I tried a 50 ft 14 gauge And get a fluctuation in temp. Thank for any help.

This topic can get pretty long, but the bottom line is you will see temp fluctuations in your CS no matter where you plug in.

Well I have done both. Due to a landscaping project and the need to add a new outlet I have been using a heavy 25' ext cord. I have noticed no diffeances. Bob

Thanks for both inputs. I bought a 25 ft.
12 gauge ext. cord but have not used it. Hope it will work ok. Any other ideas out there let me know.

I use a 12ga 25'er and have from the start. It will work fine. I think if you use a lighter gauge cord or a longer one you will have too much line loss and the unit will not perform to its potential.
