Element touching bottom of the wood pan

Not a problem, some of us would say that you might want to pull the other side up to touch also.

If you are worried about that part, just call CS customer service and ask them what they recommend, nice folks and will answer all questions/concerns.

Raise the lower side to even the element. Touching the wood box helps the wood burn better. When reinserting my woodbox, I have to gently lower the element to place it.

You should be good to go.

Yep!

Don't be surprised when your smoker runs wide open for the first 20 minutes. That is a program to make sure the wood starts smoking.
