Hi Guys, new member here. I’ve been smoking for a long time on log burner smokers and recently had an opportunity to work on a FEC120. I was pleased with the results and ease of use. I found a used FEC240 for $5000. It seems pretty clean. Build in 2013. Tha question is - is it worth it or should I save for a new one? Also if I buy used what is the most expensive part to replace?

I would check the CS site and look up parts then make your decision.
Are you using it everyday or just for your personal use? A controller is the most expensive part $1200-1500 if I was guessing. I have had a FEC 100 (2007) model that I bought used. I have changed hot rod and fan out about $150 of parts, still going strong. I bought the FEPG500 grill brand new in 2012, had to change hot rod, still working fine. If you aren’t using it everyday for business, you should be fine with a used one.
Hi Cal, thank you for your input. after checking the prices I think you are correct. Controler is about $1200. According to the owner is was in storage for a few years. It won’t be used every day. But most likely once a week.
