I've read all the strings ref therms that lose accurate readings...due to moisture buildup in the probe.
1. i tried boiling in oil...4 hours...2 probes. still bad.
2. hit both probes with a propane torch to boil out the water from the o8.
3. I fried one probe...think I over heated it.
4. second probe....a little more careful...in and out of flame.
5. when I was certain there could be no water left....I let cool in freezer.
6. rehooked probe to unit....works perfectly.
7. screw the oil? hit with high temp...
8. careful, only a few seconds at a time...then repeat..repeat...repeat...then cool.
9. for what it's worth....it worked!
10. tested the reconditioned probe with known working themom....and it's right on.

BTW....I wrecked some smoked fish. Not a Therm prom.....operator idiot ! Smiler
