FEC100 system shutting down during cook

fec100 w/IQ4 made in Nov 2007. Just bought this unit, seems like it wasn't used hardly at all. Issue is today cooking chicken wings @300 degrees unit shut down twice. Both times had to take panel off and hit reset switch only for it to fail again. I have a contest this coming weekend and need some advice. And yes I will be calling cookshack tomorrow morning. If anyone has any ideas please post.

For one thing make sure the rack holders on the side are all the way down. They have two hole settings. With the racks up the oven over temp probe is exposed to the roof of the ramp cover which gets very hot. With the racks in the lower position, the probe is shielded from direct heat by the drip tray.

I did move the racks up for this one cook, will move down and try.

"something" is tripping the high limit switch.

Like larry said, check the thermometer (make sure to wipe it off, that no food is on there).

If moving the racks didn't work, then call CS.

Oh, and WHY have you hardly used it? You're missing a lot of good food.

Good call Larry, that was the problem, Thanks. Seems that this info should be in the IQ4 operators manual, unless I missed it.

Okie, I have been using it just got it a few weeks ago, the person I bought it from hardley used it. Comp practice tomorrow with 2 briskets and 2 pork butts for timing.
