I'm trying to find an inexpensive way to freeze a full rack of ribs. Using Food Saver bags would cost $1.21 per rack when buying from Walmart.
I have been using gallon Zip Lock freezer bags and cutting the racks into halves. A gallon bag will hold 2 racks. They cost 14 cents a bag from Sam's Club.
It would be nice to have a bag big enough for a whole rack.

How many and how often?

I don't like freezer bags for long term (more than a month) the quality of the food suffers because air/humidity gets in.

You might want to think quantity, ordering from a restaurant supply place.

How did you price out the 1.21 per rack cost, that seems high.
Max,

I buy a similar Foodsaver bag pack from SAM'S Club and it is usually about $10 a box cheaper than what you list and it includes some large size pre-made bags. I'm with Smokin on freezer bags. Vac-packing is the best way. I freeze leftover whole loin-backs in the 8" size. My Foodsaver is getting near end of life, I have almost worn it out over the years. I would REALLY like a chamber Vacuum system, but I can not justify the cost... YET.

The BEST way that I have found to reheat (for home use) is after thawing is to place sealed vac bag in the sink with VERY hot water from the faucet with a few water changes and gently reheat. Works well for 1 or 2 racks.
Oooops. It sould be 61 cents for an 11x20 freezer bag. There are two rolls per box and I figured 1.
I am seeing if local restaurants would purchase my ribs for resale.
I have a FS but never tried sealing ribs. Thought the bones would poke holes in the bag. Your pic's show difference.
The freezer bags seemed to work for half racks but then again they weren't in the freezer over 3 weeks.
Thanks for the help.
