Have hit the end of the road with Traeger. Traeger has no old controllers with a 225 setting. To use the FE100 will have to use the smoke setting and the 250 setting in cooking. I will not be able to run overnight cooks of pork butts at lower temps to render out the fat. I will have to run for several hours at smoke setting and the get up sometime in the middle of the night to change the temperature. I don't really mind doing this at a competition but sure does not lend itself to production easy cooking for everyday. Heck, my WSM's will go all night at 225 without messing with them, I thought that was part of the purpose of a pellet cooker. Set it and forget it really is not true for this device.

Right after I posted the above message I got a call from Wade from Traeger and low and behold they found one and are going to ship it to me.
Looks like I may have one of the few FE100's with a 225 setting rather than a 180 setting. Will do another test this weekend with a bunch of butts at the lower temp. Had a nice chat this morning with DrBBQ about using this thing and I understand the smoke setting much better and how to use it properly. Looking forward to some competitions next month.
Should I ever need another FE100 or FE/CS, hopefully someday I will, I might not make the purchase unless I can get the controller with the 225*F. Like Bam stated, you should have that option, especially 225*F where so many people smoke, like me!

When I ordered my FE100 from Eddy I noticed the controller on the Traeger web site and requested he install it after learning about the standard controller which disappointed me, I may not have bought the oven otherwise. I paid extra and had to wait while he waited to receive the controller from Traeger.

I just don't get it...Trager obviously saw the need to upgrade their controllers so it could be more versatile and now they don't offer the controller that they actually offer on their web site? Is that what you've concluded, Duck? Or hopefully it is a temporary problem of just being out of stock. Wasn't it you Duck, that are the engineer and see ways to improve even the upgraded controller? Perhaps you need to talk to engineering at Traeger and get them on the ball! Or go into business manufacturing them.

Actually I would think CS should be working on resolving this problem with Traeger and Duck shouldn't have ever needed to talk to Traeger, although he did finally get positive results.

Seems like CS may be starting out on the wrong foot with the FE/CS with these few inconsistencies that the new purchasers are experiencing, like controllers and door seals!

I wonder about the FE2000, which controller it has, or will have in the future, Eddy? I suppose entirely different due to the increased load overall but I'll bet it'll be able to set to 225*F.
I would have assumed the position between 180 and 275 was 225 degrees on my controller. It wasn't until I started checking the interior temperature that I found it wasn't.

I couldn't figure out why some of my surgar rubs were burning?!

Oh well, Stuart is working on this and I'll continue to follow up with him.
