I've seen some pretty awesome cabinets in these forums that Smokette and Smokin' Tex owners have built themselves to elevate their smokers to a more convenient, higher level and to hold their smoking supplies. For example, see this cool homemade cabinet.

I too am getting sick of sitting on the ground to foil the bottom of my smoker and to clean it out after the smoking has been done. Problem is, I'm not much of a builder, so I'm hoping to find something pre-made at a local store.

Ideally, I'd like an inexpensive (less than $50) weatherproof cabinet to set the smoker on. I'd like a cabinet rather than a shelving unit or cart because it'll be outside and I want to enclose and protect all the smoking supplies being stored down below.

Does anyone have any outdoor cabinets they bought that work well as a smoker stand and as a place to store their smoking supplies? Rubbermaid and Suncast make patio/outdoor cabinets, but I'm not sure their plastic parts are sturdy enough to hold a smoker on top.

Has anyone found an inexpensive outdoor cabinet that works well as a stand for their smoker?

Two things.. in another post I mentioned a cabinet that is in the Sears Lawn and Garden area.. It looks to be ok for the Smokette. While the internal measurements appear to be too small.. the doors bow out adding extra room. It has room on the top for storage.. You'd have to see it at a Sears store and take actual measurements.

Another thing I saw at a local Ace Hardware was a Black and Decker tool box.. looks more like a small bench.. has pegboard sides but looks plenty strong enough to act as a base.. with lots of storage below... price.. $29.95

I chose to buy the Smokette with the CS base for it.. Unfortuantely, CS builds a naugahyde tope cover for the smoker.. but not one that goes over both the smoker and base cabinet... so, I'm going to a upholstry shop today to see what it would cost to build a custom one. If too high.. I'll build a smoker "house" like the wooden one linked in your post.

Yep, thanks.. the place I was going to go to makes covers for hot tubs (hey, I'm in Calif) as well as covers for airplane windows and boats. They should be able to do it.

I checked with CS on their cover to fit both pieces but it doesn't go all the way to the deck.. that is, it doesn't cover the platform that the base cabinet sits on.. Frowner
