Has anyone had any luck with injecting a brisk with apple juice or something similar before placing it in the smoker? I was considering mixing apple juice with my rub and injecting it into the brisket. Interested in your thoughts?
Inject yes, AJ no. Most AJ is mostly water, so you're really not adding anything but water. Think about injecting intense flavors. Beef broth is a better base, but it's mostly water. Need to put more flavor in there, rub will cause it to streak, but put the rub in the liquid well in advance so it flavors the liquid. If the rub is still too solid it will clog up the injector.
