I just ordered my Smokette II in black.
I didn't order the cabinet but want to build a stand for it. Does the 1000 degree insulation cover the bottom so I can build the stand out of wood?

Mine doesn't get hot below the smoker at all. The only thing sort of warm down there is the dripping pan. 'sides, the Smokette only goes to 250*.. which isn't hot enough to catch anything on fire..

None of the outside components get nearly warm enough to present any danger of flamibility to anything. I have accidently left plastic baggies on top of mine and there's not even a sign of distortion in shape let alone melting. A wood cabinet will be no problem.

I regularly leave mine alone for 12 plus hours so I considered the possibility of a hot ash exiting the drain hole and put a piece of steel plate between the bottom of mine and the wood. It's a longshot but better safe than sorry.
